When you can’t feel safe because your chemicals/hormones/all of it are all wrong and all you want to do is hide in hoodies and blankets all curled up to keep everything out but the problem is inside and only one or two things are sufficient distraction to bring any relief so you fall into a trance of it and can’t make yourself do anything else.
